It was a hard fought weekend of soccer for the Lady Warriors 96 Black. Going 5-0 in the tournament this weekend against some great competition.
It was a battle to advance to the semi-finals Sunday morning as they faced a very skilled Michigan Team from Vardar. They entered half time tied 1-1 and both teams were hungry for the win. They scored quickly in the start of the second half taking them to a 2-1 lead, and Vardar fired back at us to tie it up again. With less than 20 seconds left in the game our girls fired one last rocket at the keeper she just couldn’t get her hands on.
As they moved on to the finals Monday morning they were about to face the state cup winner, the Cardinals Premiere. They scored rather quickly off a great finish from a corner kick. The Cardinals continued to come at them hard, and we entered the half up 1-0. The second half the Cardinals again came out strong and the girls delivered again finishing on another great corner kick with an awesome header. This by far is one of the toughest teams they have ever faced, the girls played awesome finishing against the Cardinals with 2-0 victory shutout, taking home the championship trophy! Great Job girls we are all so proud of you!
